I Can’t Get to the Internet!

Are you unable to get your email? Are you unable to go to a website? Are you unable to watch Netflix on your computing device?

Although there are many possible problems why your Internet isn’t working, those problems are frequently solved by following this process:

First, power off your computing device, your router, and your modem. Then, wait ten seconds and turn on your modem. Once the light pattern on your modem stabilizes (typically less than two minutes), turn on your router. Once the light pattern on your router stabilizes (also typically less than two minutes), turn on your computing device.

The process of turning off your modem, router, and computing device works because it reinitializes the software in each. This process fixes about 80% of the problems that will not allow you to access the Internet.

If the above process does not fix your Internet access problem, there are volunteers who will help. To find a volunteer who will help you with your device, go to the Get Help Overview page, click on the link for your device and find a volunteer who will help you.
